Wreath
Wreaths are one of the most popular symbols of Christmas. These beautifully decorative pieces are perfect for doors, walls and make great centerpieces. The most well known type of wreath is the one made from evergreen branches. These are very easy to find during the holidays and fairly inexpensive. However, those of us with a creative edge may want to make our own wreaths. There are several types that are easy to make and look wonderful for Christmas decorations.
Cookie cutter Wreaths are simple and look wonderful in any Christmas kitchen. There also the perfect solution to rid ones pantry of old unwanted cookie cutters. To do this one needs between 25 and 30 cookie cutters. They can be Christmas shapes but that isn’t essential. Tacky wax, paper clips and ribbon are also needed.
On a flat surface place all cookie cutters in a circle. Make sure that they are all touching at some contact point. Next, seal the contact points with the tacky wax and paper clips. Once this is done, tie the ribbon either at the top or bottom in a bow shape. This makes a lovely wreath for the season. What is extra good is that it is easily dismantled should the desire to use the cookie cutters comes again.
A fun project for children is to make a pasta wreath. All that is needed is several types of dry pasta. Some poster board or paper cut into a ring shape as glue are also needed. Light colored paper or ribbon makes a nice touch as well. On the ring glue the various pieces of pasta. Ideally it should be several layers high. Once this has dried typing some red or green ribbon at the bottom could finish the wreath. Painting the wreath is optional but could make it look more festive. This makes a fun project for children that will last for years.
Wreaths are a wonderful symbol of the holidays. The traditional wreaths always look nice but there are other creative options that are easy to make. They are fun activities for the holidays that can show off one’s creative side.
