Snow Globes

Snow Globes are quite a popular item at Christmas time and through out the winter months. Creating one’s own snow scene by simply shaking an object seems to fascinate and to intrigue. Snow globes are lovely for children, however several adults collect them. In this article we will demonstrate how to make snow globes using several items around the house.

All that is needed for the homemade snow globes are the following items. Clear Jars with tight Sealable lids; Water or mineral oil; Crushed egg shells or Glitter; A glue gun or a strong sealant; some decorative objects.

The first thing that needs doing is selecting a clear jar with a tight fitting lid. Then with the sealant, fix the decorative objects to the inside of the jar lid. Let this dry the recommended amount of time before proceeding.

Fill the jar with water or mineral oil. The snow will fall more slowly if a type of oil is used and quicker with water.

The crushed eggshells or glitter will be used for snow. If they are to be used they need to be placed in the jars at this point.

From here one must carefully place the lid on top of the jar with the decorative object attached. Seal the lid tightly. For added protection and to protect against leakage add more glue around the sealed area of the jar.

Once this is completed, give it a gentle shake. If everything stays intact then the snow globe has been completed.

Snow globes are quite simple to make. However, children should be supervised by adults if glue guns are used. By following these simple instruction, anyone can make snow globes and have hours of fun.
