Christmas Tree Varieties

They come is different shades, offer different scents and looks. Some are high maintenance and some are low. Some will continue to grow while others seem to stay saplings forever. These are of course Christmas trees. To many of us, we buy our tree once a year and as long as it is green and retains some of its shape no problem. However, there are several Christmas tree varieties all with their own unique qualities.

The Norway spruce tree was one of the most popular varieties of Christmas trees is recent years. However, its high maintenance has made it drop down the popularity list recently. The Norway spruce tends to shed its needles quite fast. Keeping it well watered will help but there will still be a fair amount of clean up after the holidays.

The Nordmann fir is another popular Christmas tree variety. These are very strong looking trees with nice straight branches. They have a silvery tone to them as well. They hold their needles so cleaning up after them won’t be too bad. However the downside is that they are quite expensive.

The Blue spruce is another Christmas tree variety. These trees offer a nice color and offer a lovely scent. They also hold onto to their needles for a fairly long time.

For those that like thick and bushy trees, the Scots pine is an excellent choice. These trees have a lovely shape and long needles. They are a bright green color and hang on to the needles fairly well. The Frasier fur tree also has a great shape and good needle holding capabilities.

There are several Christmas tree varieties to choose from. Getting the correct one depends on how much maintenance that one wants to put in and the look that they are trying to achieve. Those that want the smell of pine in their homes also have that option with a few Christmas tree varieties. By shopping well and asking questions, one can find out which Christmas tree variety is best for them.
