Artificial Christmas Trees

In some parts of the country to have an artificial Christmas tree is considered blasphemy. With all of the beautiful, natural pines available who in their right mind would want something made from plastic. Well truth be told artificial trees are actually gaining in popularity. Sales increase each year demonstrating that people are recognizing the many advantages.

The debate over which is better for the environment will likely rage on forever. Both have their advantages over the other. Natural trees are of course okay if they are taken from approved Christmas tree lots and replaced every year. It helps the planet even more if the trees are either replanted or recycled. Artificial trees also offer their own advantages. They of course cut down the number of natural trees needed. They are okay to use if they are kept for a number of years.

Artificial Christmas trees are very low maintenance. There is very little clean up involved, they are light and quite easy to assemble. They also pack away nicely for easy storage. Having a natural tree is a lovely idea but the maintenance can be quite heavy. Trees need to be watered to keep their needles and for safety reasons. After the tree is taken down for the year, there is always a few hours vacuuming that goes with it.

One could also argue the safety of the artificial tree. Many are made from fireproof material. They are safe to have fairly close to a fire. Natural trees can be dangerous if they are not sufficiently watered. Sparks from fireplaces or from electric can set them a blaze in an instant.

Today, the style of artificial Christmas trees has changed. They used to be made in one general style. However now there are hundreds. Those that collect ornaments have just as much choice in artificial trees than they do with natural trees, many artificial trees look almost natural as well.

Although natural trees offer a lot in the way of beauty, artificial trees are catching up in popularity. Their convenience combines with the low maintenance makes them the easy choice for many at Christmas time.
